This has been a very exciting two weeks for dad. I've been having much pain in both my right hand and my right hip region. Last week, I visited two surgeons at the Lancaster Orthopedic Group. The hand surgeon took an x-ray of my hand and identified several issues. He ordered an MRI. The very next day, I had an appointment with the hip specialist. he identified my hip pain as a bursa issue and injected my hip with a xylecaine/cortisone cocktail... Ouch!
Since last week, I also had a CAT Scan, routine blood drawn, and the MRI.
I revisited the hand specialist yesterday and he wanted to isolate the area of my hand that was causing me the most pain. So... he injected my right wrist once again with some pain meds and a small amount of cortisone. That was three shots in my hand/wrist and one in my elbow over the past three months. :-(
I was hoping he would proceed with surgery so I could get back out on the water and fishing come March. Well, I may still be able to make that time frame. I have another visit on February 5, 2009.
Our basketball season is at the half way mark. We will be finished after the first week of February.
Fishing related items: We attended the Timonium, Md. Fishing Expo on January 10, 2009. It was a very weak show with many vendors unable to weather the weak economy. Hopefully, such fishing shows can survive this weak economy and come back strong as the year progresses. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The next show will be the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show (ESOS) in Harrisburg, Pa. That show runs from February 7-15, 2009.
There's a fly tying fest coming soon. I've never attended it, but I may make an effort to go this year. The TieFest 2009- Kent Narrows, MD on 2/14/09 is suppose to be the best little show around. Lefty Kreh will be there along with other well known tyers and fly anglers. The price is right... free!
On Friday, February 27, 2009, the BPS of Harrisburg will be holding their Spring Fishing Classic Pro Day. Jimmy Houston, Woo and Chris Daves, and Lefty Kreh will be their! What an all-star line-up of well known anglers. It kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and goes until 7:00 p.m.
Attention!
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission's Smallmouth Symposium will be held on January 31 at the Harrisburg River Rescue Building, 1119 South Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
