Maine Saltwater Fishing Report: Super Fly Charters

Your Source For Northeast Fishing Reports And Sportfishing Charters

Reports from all over the northeast have been arriving steadily at my email message inbox...They all share a common theme, 2010 is going to be a great fishing year on the salty northeast coast. Starting on Long Island Sound, Den Kelly reports seeing good numbers of Striped Bass over the past week. Den's an ardent Striped Bass tagger for the American littoral Society who recently tagged his 12,000 Striper.

Moving north to Cape Cod, Super Fly Salty Anglers Club member & owner of the Buzzards Bay Angler;Capt. Nick Santolucito reports that migrating Stripers are arriving in Buzzards Bay. Other anglers in that area report running into HUGE schools of blitzing Bluefish...a good sign indeed.

Super Fly Salty Anglers Club member Chris Oliver chimes in with a report of AMAZING Stellwagen Bank groundfish action....limiting out early on market sized Cod to 15 pounds with a nice pick of Haddock, Pollock and Cusk. Modified diamond jigs rigged with butterfly stinger hooks & Berkely Gulp teasers and sea clams were getting all the strikes...Huge schools of sandeels are covering up vast areas of the bank providing the forage.

In Maine all the usual herring runs are starting to stack up with Alewives...Mackerel have shown up in Casco Bay..Migrating Striped Bass will be arriving by the middle of May and our season will once again be underway lasting well into the fall. Our calendar is starting to fill up so we anticipate another extremely busy charter season. Thank you to everyone who has already committed to their dates and thanks in advance to everyone who intends to fish with us this season.

Once our season starts, i'll be posting daily fishing reports and photos of our days catch. If you haven't yet booked your trip...call us today to reserve your date.
