Hello Folks,
I haven't been able to fish Monday and today due to Home Improvements. We've lived in our home for just over 22 years and it was time for some updates. We had three windows that no longer functioned correctly and our back deck patio door and frame were weathering.
So, we took our tax money to do the work at home. In fact, we'll be receiving some tax break from the IRS for all this work. In order to get this break, the glass in the door and windows has to meet a certain standard set by Uncle Sam... Don't even ask me what it is because I let my wife do all that crazy stuff! :)
Here are some pics from the work over the past two days...
Bye Bye Door!
Here's what we found on the entrance/exit side of the French Doors... rotted wood that needed to be replaced. The wood felt like sponge and I'm surprised it was still intact. This pic is after we pushed the wood out...
Two of the windows are gone and the blinds pulled to help keep the bugs out and the a/c in...
The door needed a lot of work and the crew had to cut through some of the studs, etc. to get a square fit. The old door wasn't a standard size door and the new one had to be custom cut. That took an extra three weeks to get done.
Here's the finished work on two of the three window. These newer windows are so much nicer and well built than those of 22 years ago. My son always complained that he was cold in the winter and hot in the summer because the windows were so drafty. "No more, son of mine!"
And here is the finished doorway. We have the blinds inside the windows so the dogs don't destroy them. These blinds work off a magnetic system... Cool Beans!
We now only have ten more windows to do in our home. I wish I could have afforded all of them at the same time since there's that tax break happening. Oh well, maybe we'll have to wait until the government allows for another break.
Now, you know why I haven't had a decent fishing report up since last Thursday's outing with Dell. I am hoping to get on the water tomorrow morning if the storms move out by daybreak.
Take care and thanks for visiting!
