From the watery desk of Mark Daugherty
The tuna bite has cooled off a bit after over a month and half of wide open fishing. BUT, the rooster fishing has been phenomenal over the last week with 40, 50 and 60lb. fish being landed and released daily. The roosters are readily taking live jacks at Punta Arena with fights lasting over an hour on the larger units. Dorado have been plentiful but small with a nice 55lb. bull landed yesterday on the boat Jack Daniels. Marlin have been steady with some stripers, sailfish and a few blue being landed daily. The wind has come up the last few days but it looks like it will be laying down tomorrow. The water has been a steady 84 for the last week or so.
Photos this week are of Ben Throolin of El Sobrante, CA with a very nice 60lb. roosterfish on 40lb. test, Michelle of Auburn, Tennessee with another beautiful 40lb. rooster and yet another roooooster for Brian of Mississippi.
Buena pesca,
Mark
